Days out on the doorstep
You don’t have to go far for a fun day out. You can discover the local countryside at Lochshore Park, which is an exciting new parkland destination featuring scenic walks around the Kilbirnie Loch, a playpark, café and community hub holding regular activities. Another great place to stretch your legs is idyllic Muirshiel Country Park with its many trails through woodland and moorland. Equally as handy are the castles of Kilbirnie and Glengarnock where you can soak up the rich local history.
With Glasgow a little over half an hour away, you can enjoy a day out discovering its heritage and culture. The first stop has to be Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. With 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries, it’s Scotland's most visited free attraction. Then there’s the Riverside Museum celebrating transport in all its glory with everything from skateboards to locomotives. The kids will also love a day at Glasgow Science Centre with its interactive science exhibits.
You can also have a day at the beach at the seaside resort of Largs. It’s only 15 minutes away by car. Make sure to walk the Victorian promenade as well as visit the award-winning Vikingar! for an action-packed Viking experience.

Getting here
Commuting with ease
Thanks to its excellent transport links, Millwood is the ideal base for commuting. You can hop onto the A737 via the A760, and be in Paisley in under half an hour. From here you can then get onto the M8 and arrive in the centre of Glasgow in another 10 minutes. You can also drive southwest via the B780 and B781 to reach West Kilbride in around 20 minutes. Or take the A737 to Kilwinning, then join the A78 to continue to Irvine.
Train travel is every bit as convenient. Less than 1½ miles from your door is Glengarnock train station. During the day, there are three trains an hour each way between Glengarnock and Glasgow. Trains also run regularly to Ayr, Largs and Ardrossan Harbour.
Finally, whether flying off for work or pleasure, Glasgow International Airport is a short 25 minute commute. From here, you can jet off to anywhere from Paris to Prague and Orlando to Toronto. No matter where you’re heading, you can look forward to returning to your new home in Kilbirnie.
